[edit]one of the only renowned, is as impressive as the venues, the most famous and largest? This reads like a fanblurb. ~ trialsanderrors 08:59, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
Rumor
[edit]I've heard this rumor from a couple of UIUC alumni and students, that the Krannert Center was originally Abramovitz's final project and he got a low grade (like a C on it or something) and his teacher told him it was an interesting design but it would never work. Can anyone validate this for me? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.126.67.144 (talk) 19:02, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
Definitely untrue; I interviewed Abramovitz when I was a youngster. ARBettridge (talk) 19:44, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
More than a rumor: there were problems with rapid deterioration of the terra-cotta used as an exterior paving material, with water leakage (possibly related to the structural isolation of one performance space from another), and with extensive breakage and loss of the ceramic tiles covering the large near-vertical surface(s). The latter had to be taken off and reattached/replaced with backing adhesive in addition to the original mechanical fixtures. There was a lawsuit over this. (Closer to a rumor: Abramovitz's picture was taken down from a display of distinguished alumni during the lawsuit.) Mark (talk) 23:28, 29 March 2020 (UTC)Mjackson
