I had changed the period to early Heian in accordance with Kanzan Sato's book, which has very nice pitures, and a brief rundown on the Kogarasu(pages 32-33, plate #17).
How do you pronounce this?
[edit]When adding items with Foreign names please add the phonetic pronounciation. If any one is reading this and knows how to say this then please add it.
I think it is:
ko-gah-rah-soo mar-roo
correct?
Thanks!

I know how to pronounce it, but am not terribly proficient with IPA (the Simple English Wiki page for it helps). So let me preface an attempted IPA with a basic primer: For Romaji (Japanese words written in Latin/English letters), pronounce every letter, and always pronounce each letter the same. "o" for example is always the same noise. If there are two o's in a row, then the length is doubled--it does not suddenly have a new pronunciation. So, in non-IPA...
Ko as in the first sound of "coat"
ga as in the sound you make when frustrated
ra like a cheerleader says
su like the name Sue
Ma like either half of a baby's "mama"
ru like the cross-dresser Ru Paul.
In terrible IPA transcription, ignoring the semi-rolled r, possible issues with s, and assuming flat inflection...
koʊgɑɹɑsʊ mɑɹʊ
Will add if I ever get confident with IPA... IOW, someone else more versed should do so, I may never become that confident with it/ Sctn2labor (talk) 22:58, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:KogarasuMaru.jpg
[edit]Image:KogarasuMaru.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Taira Clan
[edit]It's mentioned in the tale of Heike that the Kogarasu Maru is an heirloom of the Taira clan. Should this be added? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.167.207.138 (talk) 05:18, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
