Japan

It seems like Team Ninja games sell notoriously bad in Japan. Does anyone know if this was due to the fact that back in the PS2/Xbox/GC era Team Ninja abandoned the Japanese developed PS2 system and instead chose to develop games exclusively for the Xbox a system developed in America? 130.219.192.173 22:38, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Tecmo logo.jpg

Image:Tecmo logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:05, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Tons of Tecmo lawsuits

The pile of lawsuits they've been receiving may result in some significant damages, perhaps they may even go the way of 3D0.

  1. Itagaki's lawsuit's been known for a while - unpaid bonuses for Dead or Alive 4.
  2. According to 1UP, more than three-dozen Team Ninja employees left, and joined the class action lawsuit for unpaid bonuses.
  3. And most recently, the two top executives of Tecmo's labor union are joining suit for unpaid wages, claiming they falsified documents and accounting procedures in regards to employment statuses, overtime pay, and more. Famitsu added that Tecmo's violated a "ton" of employment contracts and regulations, and did not pay employees for working on public holidays or working overtime.

So, just thought it was a matter of significance that Tecmo may become belly up. Someone may want to add mention of these lawsuits into the article. - A Link to the Past (talk) 07:36, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Square takeover attempt

Square already took over the Taito Corporation who produced Demon Sword. Tecmo produced the classic Rygar which took off as a PS2 remake. I think Demon Sword is just as good if not a better NES game, yet with all their resources Square doesn't seem to have done anything with it. What is very unfortunate, is Tecmo owns the rights to Ninja Gaiden, and Ashtar from Dark Sword of Chaos basically IS Victar, the hero of Demon Sword, turned evil in modern times, so they could have merged the genres. The Demon Sword's design is like a swordbreaker, it would have been the perfect thing to face against Ryu. Tyciol (talk) 07:20, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

Amusement?

Could someone please define or provide examples of "amusement equipment" (as mentioned in the first paragraph of "History")? Boneyard90 (talk) 08:32, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

I have made amusement equipment a redirect. It is a common word used by companies to describe the manufacture of automated, coin-operated games. It can sometimes refer to slots or pachinko, but more often refers to games like pinball or ski-ball or whac-a-mole. It can also refer to an arcade video game, but usually only when grouped with the one of the other uses. ▫ JohnnyMrNinja 06:46, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

KOEI Canada?

The link at the bottom of the article to KOEI Canada redirects back to this page. I am guessing it should be removed but I am unsure if this is just some error. --99.231.143.213 (talk) 06:14, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Other Game Series

I know that Koei made PTO and PTO 2, and the intro to the game refers to it as part of its "World War" series.

Chronography

Anyone knowledgeable enought to provide a chronology over Koei's released games? Mikademus 23:35, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

Anyone got a source for this?

"It has been revealed that Koei Tecmo is encouraging employees to have children in order to increase the population of Japan."

Tecmo employee editing Wikipedia

http://www.weeklybits.com/wikipedia-warns-tecmo-to-stop-editing-wiki-page-tecmo_article_13_56859.html

Neat! Probably not reliable enough to use as a ref, though. ▫ JohnnyMrNinja 09:10, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

Ah, found the better ref: http://kotaku.com/5358712/wikipedia-warns-tecmo-to-stop-editing-wiki-page - We're on the lookout, Koei Tecmo! ▫ JohnnyMrNinja 09:21, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

Conflicting sources

"The subsidiary Tecmo and associated development teams have been declared disbanded in Japan as of February 25, 2010, and relevant intellectual properties are slated to be further managed by Tecmo Koei, effective April 1, 2010.Tecmo: Declaration of DisbandmentTecmo Koei: Declaration of Succession"

I'm moving this here for now, as what I can translate through Google conflicts with http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2011/02/08/tecmo_koei_games_tecmo_koei/ - if someone that reads Japanese could help clear it up, I'd appreciate it. ▫ JohnnyMrNinja 11:18, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

Koei china

The article mentions european and canadian subsidiaries - but not the china subsidiary "Koei Tianjin" http://www.imdb.com/company/co0179626/ - As I recall they were credited on DW3. Also see http://uk.gamespy.com/company/025/025038.html

Does anyone want to add this.77.86.68.147 (talk) 22:27, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
