MOS cleanup and copy-edit required

[edit]

The recent revert here by User:Sysmithfan unfortunately re-added a lot of non-compliance with the Manual of Style and re-introduced poor wording and incorrect grammar.
Some of the problems that need to be fixed are listed below.

  • The Japanese title needs to be re-added to the article lead - preferably using the standard Nihongo template. Done
  • "English" should have a capital "E". Done
  • The lead does not say when the single was released. Done
  • "The song opened up on the Oricon Daily Singles at number 13." - erm... not very encyclopedic language.
  • The thumbnail image should use the default size to suit users' own preferences, rather than have a fixed size specified. (See relevant guideline at WP:IMGSIZE with rationale further explained at WP:AUTOSIZE) Done
  • Image captions should be sentence fragments - without a period at the end. (See relevant guideline at WP:CAPTION) Done
  • Wikilinking to the film Yoake no Machi de would be helpful. No idea why it was removed. Done
  • "The video setting takes place in..." - I think we can improve this redundancy.
  • "in the second room lays Kubota's love interest" is ungrammatical English. Done
  • "DEPAPEPE" does not conform to the MoS stipulations governing all-caps for stylistic purposes. (See relevant guideline at WP:MOSCAPS) Done
  • The "Charts and certifications" table also has non-standard capitalization. (See relevant guideline at MOS:TABLES) Done

These are just a few of the obvious problems that need to be addressed, but I also wonder why the screenshot from the video was moved away from the section of the article that actually described it. Apart from being illogical, it could present problems with fair-use criteria too. --DAJF (talk) 03:41, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is ridiculous. I believe this is nothing more than idiocy. I have cleaned up this article but I believe this is just made up junk, having to do with DAJF's personal bias with me. Nevertheless, I will humor his so called "MOS cleanup and copy-edit required" demand. [Sighs] Sysmithfan (talk) 04:03, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have added links above to the relevant guidelines, which should hopefully make it clearer that this is neither "idiocy" nor "made up junk". --DAJF (talk) 08:27, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It is amazing how you miss the most common and popular articles with the so called "Image captions should be sentence fragments - without a period at the end. (See relevant guideline at WP:CAPTION)". You should look at these articles: Irreplaceable, Get Me Bodied, Motivation, Down for Whatever, Green Light, Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It), Diva, Ego, Sweet Dreams, Video Phone, We Belong Together, and so many more. Why not put a clean up tag on those articles? Why not challenge the articles that began over a year ago rather than constantly challenging articles that have not been around for more than a month? WP:OTHERSTUFF? But please go ahead and clean up articles you come across that don't properly conform with the manual of style. --DAJF (talk) 22:45, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That is your job. Since you want to tag every Kubota article with something stupid. I am giving you something to tag. Get to work! Sysmithfan (talk) 00:29, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Clunky language usage

[edit]

In addition to the wording issues mentioned above, as of this version, the first lines of the "Background" section currently read as:

The song was recorded in English language and Japanese language. Although the single version was released in Japanese language, the album version of the song, was recorded in English language.

I think we can do better than this, but I'll leave it to the article's self-appointed owner. --DAJF (talk) 23:04, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You are so pathetic. Get a life, please! You have nothing better to do than to follow my edits. If you do not like it (the "Background" section), MOVE ON! You are one of the only two users on Wikipedia who always has something to say about the way I write articles. Move on and get a life! And I mean that in the nicest way.
