rhythm section
[edit]The article describes the personnel as:
"jazz musician Julian "Cannonball" Adderley accompanied by Bill Evans and the rhythm section of the Modern Jazz Quartet."
But a rhythm section includes the pianist, and the pianist of the Modern Jazz Quartet is John Lewis who is not on this album.
Taken literally, the "accompanied by Bill Evans and the rhythm section of the Modern Jazz Quartet" would include Bill Evans, John Lewis, Percy Heath, and Connie Kay.
Also, the Modern Jazz Quartet is a combo with only vibes, piano, bass, and drums itself, so "rhythm section" is, at least, a bit odd sounding when applied to 3/4 (and here only 1/2) of the Modern Jazz Quartet.
A better description would be:
Julian "Cannonball" Adderley with Bill Evans and two members of the Modern Jazz Quartet.
Even better would be:
alto saxophonist Julian "Cannonball" Adderley with Bill Evans, Percy Heath, and Connie Kay on piano, bass, and drums, respectively.
