Interwiki ug and ky
[edit]Please don't link to the articles on the Uyghur and Kyrghyz versions of Wikipedia as long as they don't have any contents. —Babelfisch 01:28, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

Wrong Kyrgyz name?
[edit]While the Kyrgyz spelling of the prefecture's full name is given as كىزىلسۋ كىزگىز اۆتونومييالى وبلاستى in all versions of this article that provide it, including the Kyrgyz and Chinese ones, it contradicts the information given in Kyrgyz alphabets. The names "Kizilsu" and "Kirghiz" appear to be directly transliterated from Kyrgyz Cyrillic, which doesn't make a [k]/[q] or a [g]/[ʁ] distinction in writing, unlike the Kyrgyz Arabic alphabet; additionally, the word "Kirghiz" is misspelled as "Kizgiz", with the ر replaced by ز. I've tried checking the spelling on official government websites. While the prefecture's official website doesn't seem to have a Kyrgyz version, the banner at the top repeatedly displays the name as قىزىلسۇۇ قىرعىز اپتونوم وبلاسى (the last word appears in the adjective form وبلاستىق областык). The name can be seen in its nominative form in the headline of this article on the website of Akto County and in its dative form in the headline of this article on the Kyrgyz version of China Radio International. If nobody objects I would like to change the spelling in this article to reflect the correct one. VonPeterhof (talk) 13:43, 10 December 2015 (UTC)
About the mass sterilizations
[edit]The section talking about the mass sterilizations said the mass sterilizations were "voluntary" when infact they were forced. The source that the section cites also states this very clearly. I decided to change it to state that it is mandatory instead.
However I still think the sentence isn't really articulated in the most neutral way and still has the original bias left that stated that it was "voluntary". I think it should be completely re-written to be more according to the cited source. But I can't think of a good way to articulate it. So if someone finds a better way to re-write the section based on the cited source then go ahead. ;) H44dyss9900 (talk) 07:46, 30 April 2022 (UTC)
- I changed it again to be more neutral and more representative of the cited source but I'm still not sure if this is the best way to describe it. But it's much better than before. H44dyss9900 (talk) 20:55, 22 May 2022 (UTC)
