Notability
[edit]I'm sure this was a very nice and talented individual. However there is no claim to notability. There are hundreds of session musicians who play with / production personnel who assist notable musicians. Bongomatic (talk) 08:32, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not sure I agree with Bongomatic. At first blush it may look like a vanity article, but after reading it I think all it needs are a few credible citations. He wrote and was the the musical director for a few TV shows that are noteworthy, and worked with many noteworthy artists. His production credits are quite noteworthy. 100's of people haven't produced for Jennifer Lopez or have helped produce modern operas for MTV--Feddx (talk) 16:33, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- No, it's true that 100s of people haven't produced for Jennifer Lopez--a quick count of the producers listed in the Wikipedia entries for her albums lists a mere 64 producers (deleting duplicates). As to the MTV opera, actually it's hard to know his role as he is credited as the composer in the page for the production and "engineer/producer" in this page. Either way, it doesn't change my view. As noted previously, doing work for notable people or on notable productions is not (in my view) notable in itself--there are thousands upon thousands of non-notable but quite talented journeymen required to keep the entertainment industry working. - Fortunately for Wikipedia your view, even if well meaning and informed, is not the only one that matters here. I agree with Tony Fox, if you're unhappy with this article and would like to see it deleted, submit it for an AfD where it can be discussed and attention brought to it. Who knows? There might be people that can contribute and improve this article.--Feddx (talk) 19:18, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
Article issues
[edit]This article does not have a neutral point of view in an advert- resume-like fashion (words like "precocious", conclusions such as "most college students are waiting anxiously for money from their parents", description of playing in a marching band as a "musical career", let alone one that "flourished").
While the subject may be notable, notability is not demonstrated with the current article. It is not stated which notable projects he had a critical role on (for example, being a session keyboard player on one track of a charted album is not a demonstration of notability, nor being a music supervisor for a sitcom that didn't win awards for its music supervision).
I have not nominated this article for deletion because it seems as though there is a reasonable possibility that its subject is notable. So instead of deleting tags and complaining, those who believe this individual notable should add some references and claims of notability to the article. Bongomatic 00:37, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
