Plagiarism

Proper Wikipedia procedure was followed to point this out, yet someone reverted it saying there was "very little overlap." You be the judge:

SGHISTORY version: The Kingdom Heirs were formed in 1971 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Original members included Patty Wilson (alto), Jim Bluford (tenor), Gene McKinney (lead), Raymond Parker (bass), and a 13-year-old Gary Bilyeu (piano). They were all teenagers at the time. Within a few months, they had added a bass guitar player named Gary Arnold and a 13-year-old drummer named Jim Ford.

WIKIPEDIA version: The Kingdom Heirs formed in 1971 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Original members included Patty Wilson (alto), Jim Bluford (tenor), Gene McKinney (lead), Raymond Parker (bass), and a 13-year-old Gary Bilyeu (piano). Gary Arnold was added on bass guitar and 13-year-old drummer Jim Ford came close behind with Tom Bailey on Rhythm.

Group History

I added the Members and Discography sections to the article to give some idea of the group's history, but if anyone can contribute some text about the history of the group, I'd be very appreciative. Contested deletion

This page should not be speedy deleted as an unambiguous copyright infringement, the page is mostly paraphrased and is not a copyright infringement. At most, a copyright tag should be added, but it definatly shouldnt be deleted. Thanks, Lordseriouspig 07:22, 17 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No one was asked to "delete" the entire page. Simply re-write the word-for-word sections that previous Wikipedia editors stole. Any self-respecting high school English teacher would not accept such outright plagiarism from a student if they were made aware it was copied word-for-word from a source. The procedure Wikipedia requires for dealing with a copyright violation is the one that was followed in attempting to correct the issue. Regardless, the outcome was that no one thinks it matters if Wikipedia editors copy and paste sentences from other websites even when it's from a website that has a statement specifically asking Wikipedia editors to do their own work. 66.112.160.208 (talk) 04:41, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
