Episode 4 synopsis

[edit]

What was wrong with it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.221.133.226 (talk) 22 May, 2007

I don't think there was anything wrong with it, it's just that a synopsis for episode five was added first, leaving a gap for episode four (which has since been filled). -88.109.16.29 22:41, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

International broadcast

[edit]

Can anyone get hold of any sources about the series premiering on the European Hallmark channel at the start of April? I don't want to have to cite an ephemeral webpage but even if it's just a listings magazine, it will do.WindsorFan 22:39, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GA passed

[edit]

For a shows that's only had one series, this page is brilliant. No problems that I can see, very well sourced and written in my book. Covers all of the aspects, and all of the image has fair use rationales. Keep it up! Gran2 18:37, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Filming locations

[edit]

As others have said, this is a great page for a first series of a TV programme. The only gap in information that jumps out at me is some lack of detail of the locations used. Some not currently recorded in the article were mentioned in the ITV2 "Making of" programme. (As this is my first post to anywhere on Wikipedia I'm reluctant to attempt an edit of the main myself, especially one that would require a complete new section on the page rather than a few minor edits to existing text.) Gregchapmanuk 08:44, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A full-blown list of filming locations would be unencyclopedic per #4 of WP:NOT#INFO. The locations listed now are intended to be a summary of the main places shooting took place; Swaffham is listed for obvious reasons, Wells for the beach, etc. There's a more detailed list (building names, street names) at [IMDB], which is linked at the end of the article. Any new major locations used in the second series will probably be added as more detail is released Brad 11:35, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Spoiler warning

[edit]

Hello.

Wouldn't it be possible to add a spoiler warning before the episode summaries? I think indeed that they reveal a lot about the plot, especially for the last episode.

Thank you. Amhantar 05:03, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Broadcast history

[edit]

Hello again,

This part of the article says that a second season is "due to be filmed in mid-2007" when in the beginning of the article one can read "a second series was filmed from July to September 2007 for broadcast in 2008". I have therefore made the necessary changes and hope that everyone here will agree with it.

Thank you. Amhantar 05:12, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just recently noticed it being listed as showing on my local PBS affiliate (KLRU, Austin, Texas.) If someone knows the US distribution deal could you insert that information here, please? If not, I hope to discover the information soon and add return to add it myself. Thanks. Derekbd 22:08, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Presumably the distribution is handled by Portman TV, who bought the international rights at the start of this year. However, if you could find any US reviews for the show for the reception section then that would be great. Brad 22:16, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Use of article in press source

[edit]

I can't remember how we're supposed to log these but the Watton and Swaffham Times has reprinted a large tract of text from this article without attribution. I don't know if this appeared in a print version of the paper or just online.

Brad (talk) 23:26, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, the article now is unavailable, so determining what part of the text might be copyright violation will be difficult, unless someone can find another link, or copy the text into the talk, here. 76.102.1.193 (talk) 21:06, 26 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Factual information keeps getting removed

[edit]

I've added info on filming locations for series one several times now, and it keeps getting removed by someone. I'm adding a note to say that among the already listed filming locations, Castle Acre was used in episode 5 of series one. Can anyone explain why this keeps getting deleted? Castle Acre really WAS used as a filming location in series one, episode 5. —Preceding unsigned comment added by SamKnox (talkcontribs) 14:04, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposal for filming locations

[edit]

I'll just run this by quickly as I'm supposed to be taking a wikibreak: We need to achieve a balance with regards to listing the filming locations. At the moment, we're getting "I recognise that location! I'd better put it on Wikipedia!" (entirely in good faith) and are running the risk of creating an impossible-to-manage list of minor locations that appear for only five minutes in an episode. So I propose that major locations that the show uses (Swaffham, Wells, etc) be discussed in the "Filming" section of this article, and minor locations that appear for just one episode be placed as bulleted lists in the episode table of List of Kingdom (2007 TV series) episodes. Taking the episode from the other day as an example, we could have:

Filming locations for this episode include:

  • An empty ward at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital
  • Happisburgh lighthouse

A note can then be placed at the top of the filming section that says something like "For further information on filming locations, see List of Kingdom (2007 TV series) episodes". Brad (talk) 14:18, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I totallly agree that all major filming locations should be in the "Filming" section. Locations that appear in only one episode are trivial in my eyes and shouldn't appear at all. I don't see the need or relevance to mention, as the example, that an empty ward and Happisburgh lighthouse were used. Any notable one-off filming locations could be put in filming section, but we don't need to list them all.--UpDown (talk) 14:42, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It's either a compromise until the series is over and the page quietens down or excessive reverting. Brad (talk) 14:54, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA sweeps

[edit]

This article has been reviewed as part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles/Project quality task force. The only issue I noticed concerns the lead, which would benefit from more detail (and a copyedit to remove some serial commas). However, it (just about!) provides an adequate article summary, so I believe the article currently meets the criteria and should remain listed as a Good article. The article history has been updated to reflect this review. Regards, EyeSereneTALK 13:17, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Images

[edit]

The three images in article appear to have been copied from Swaffham Online the licensing may be wrong. --palmiped |  Talk  15:38, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My comments copied from User talk:Stavros1: A user called Sam Knox uploaded the same images to Flickr last year ([1]). Since then s/he has uploaded several more images of Stephen Fry and Norfolk locations. I think we can presume that it is the same person sharing their free images. Since the user hasn't made many edits it might be ideal to get an OTRS email confirmation that s/he is the true photographer. Additionally, that Swaffam tie-in website went up to coincide with the second series in January, after the photos were uploaded here. I think it safe to assume they took the images from here, rather than the other way around. We really ought to assume good faith instead of turning away good-quality freely-licensed images. Accents

[edit]

I'm suprised that nothing appears to be mentioned on the actors' accents. Being Norfolk born & bred, I feel qualified to say that they were all awful. They seemed to be all very fake West Country accents. Although i have nothing against the West Country accent, it ecrtainly is very different to the Norfolk accent. They would, perhaps, have been better off not bothering with the accent at all as many people in Norfolk don't have the accent or, not to the extent they tried to emphasise it. To my mind, Fry would have been most qualified to do the Norfolk accent as he has had part of his upbringing there and seems to be quite alert to regional accents around the country. LewisR (talk) 13:05, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is already a paragraph about the accents in the reception section. Bradley0110 (talk) 13:13, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Error in Simon Kingdom character description?

[edit]

The description says of Simon, "At the end of the second series he disappears after fleeing from a mafia-type gang during a storm, and it is revealed at the start of series three that he really is dead, the opening scene showing Simon, Beatrice and Auriel standing at his grave." If Simon is, in fact, dead, then would he be standing at his own grave? I'm happy to change this myself, but I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something first. SpankyMac (talk) 00:43, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Character description

[edit]

I changed the phrase "landing in dykes" in the "Lyle" character description section to "dikes". The former is generally used for the pejorative version and could be misinterpreted. - Zelmia 18:36, 24 July 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zelmia (talkcontribs)

I changed it back: "dyke" is the usual UK spelling, in both senses. Barsoomian (talk) 04:57, 20 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Confusing text in Kingdom (TV series) entry.

[edit]

In the first paragraph it is stated: "Despite a mid-series ratings dip, the executive chairman of ITV praised the programme and ordered a second series..." But in Episode 1, a picture of Simon Kingdom is seen at least once. It is clearly actor Dominic Maffham so he must have clearly been contracted before Series 1 was shot to appear as Simon Kingdom at some point. As the storylines would be known when Series 1 was being filmed, the plots for Series 2 must have been known.

Further down the Kingdom (TV series) entry under Broadcast History it says: "The second series was commissioned before the first episode was broadcast." Surely this contradiction needs sorting out? ---- Brenmar — Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.228.210.105 (talk) 00:17, 18 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
