Previous drafts
[edit]I created this stub in response to a request at the Canadian Wikipedians' Noticeboard. There had previously been a couple deleted drafts at Draft:Kindred Spirits Orchestra, I'm not sure what the problem was, possibly a copypaste from the organization's website.
Anyways, I found coverage of the subject in two national music magazines (1200 words and 350 words, more than passing mentions) which I believe satisfies notability. I wrote it up with everything cited, no copyvio, encyclopedic tone, etc. I hope it addresses whatever problems existed with the previous versions. There are a lot of smaller local news sources which could flesh out the material, but I feel that it covers the basics of the subject. – Reidgreg (talk) 15:11, 12 June 2021 (UTC)
Sources
[edit]There have been a series of edits by an IP editor using Special:Contributions/2607:fea8:7618:3300:e155:fa74:a219:889f and Special:Contributions/2607:fea8:7618:3300:1930:6cef:85c1:4e79. I'm going to post a couple edit summaries here and then attempt a discussion, hopefully the IP editor can find this.
- My summary on a reversion:
paraphrase to avoid plagiarism, remove one venue as a single performance (per source) is not performing regularly there, list consistency
- IP's summary on adding material
Meridian Arts Centre and Meridian Hall are two separate concert venue. The orchestra performed a single concert at the Meridian Hall but is performing regularly at the Meridian Arts Centre (see https://ksorchestra.ca/2023-2024-season and https://ksorchestra.ca/2024-2025-season )
- IP's summary on adding material
Okay, thanks for clarifying the difference between venues. But the problem is still finding a source to back up the addition of Meridian Arts Centre as a regular venue of the orchestra. The two web pages you mentioned in your edit summary (but did not use as sources in the article itself) are from the orchestra's own website. These are what we call WP:primary sources. We should not be using these in articles. What we want are reliable secondary sources independent of the subject. So we want sources like La Scena which are reporting on the orchestra and not what the orchestra is saying about itself. I've moved "Meridian Arts Centre" to the end of the sentence and tagged it with citation needed.
I hope this helps. – Reidgreg (talk) 14:34, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
