Link kindins-iudex is not definite
[edit]I have nuanced the first sentence a bit. Problem is that kindins is only attested in the Gothic Bible (translating Grk. ἡγεμών), i.e. outside of its native context, and the link to the postulated 4th century Gothic rank which is called dikastes or iudex in the Greek and Latin sources is one made only by some scholars. This link may well be correct, but it should not be presented as if it were confirmed by something as clear as vernacular use. Its only attested vernacular use is in Biblical context, which tells us little about its function in Gothic society. — Mnemosientje (t · c)
