Senior Pranks section

[edit]

Stop Reverting the page. if you were to open up a history book, you would see that the information provided for the rivalry is correct. The information on the senior pranks is also correct and relevant. It will not be removed.-- 69.162.172.83 (sig added by Dana) — Preceding undated comment added 02:30, 12 March 2006

The rest of the article seems fairly encyclopedic. This shouldn't be too hard to correct. I'll probably even do it myself when I find the time. ---Dana 21:32, 21 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Though the page on senior pranks is amusing, I see no reason why it needs to be in an encyclopedia. I am, however, a boarding school graduate and understand the pride involved in even a Wikipedia page. Maybe the page could be shortened to include a smaller description of the pranks; much of the narration doesn't add to the section's point (e.g. the detailed description of the aftermath of the class of 2004's prank.) Made some substantial (and much-needed) cuts and edits to the Pranks section. insiriusdenial 20:31, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Again, trimmed the Pranks section after someone (presumably a 2006 grad) tripled its length. If someone wants to delete the section entirely, please feel free to, but as long as it remains short and unintrusive, it doesn't bother me personally. insiriusdenial 23:27, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
199.74.83.31, stop reverting the page. Those changes are biased, irrelevant, and I would recommend you read the Wikipedia:Five Pillars and related Policies and Guidelines before making any more edits. To get you started-- "Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information." The senior pranks section is on the edge of being completely irrelevant, biased edits aside, so please stop reverting. insiriusdenial 15:29, 10 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
senior pranks are very relevant. this is an encyclopedia, after all. one of the primary focuses of encyclopedias is history and social phenomena. pranks are a looong tradition at prep schools. its not exactly acceptable propaganda for the schoool, but why cut it out? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.162.181.113 (talk) 19:06, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Revised the page in concordance with the Wikipedia:Five Pillars to make it more NPOV. 24.63.142.101 16:54, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Someone reverted the page without any explanation. I assume they took exception with the reinsertion of the "senior pranks" section. In light of that, I have revised the article into what I consider to be the best version yet. All the latest changes have been kept. the senior pranks section was revised and what once was a massive block, I broke into legible paragraphs. This is a very lively and prominent tradition at the school, it is social history that is a large part of what makes Kimball Union what it is. How can anyone here deny history a place in an encyclopedia!? 24.63.142.101 18:48, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not going to get involved in the argument over whether the pranks section is appropriate. My explanation for reverting is in the comment. The same edit that added the pranks section also mangled a bunch of links, removed a bunch of others, and eliminated the references section and some other info. That is why I reverted it. Now that 24.63.142.101 has put the pranks section back in without damaging anything else, I won't mess with it, and will defer to others the debate over whether or not it is appropriate. I'd like to point out that none of the other prep schools (Phillips Andover, Phillips Exeter, Proctor, Holderness, Tabor...) reference pranks. Doing illegal activities behind Fitch/the science building is a long-standing tradition, as well, yet you don't see it in an encyclopedia article. Just because something is true does not mean it needs to be included; otherwise, the articles would be atrociously long. See my comment above. insiriusdenial 18:32, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Since senior pranks are not relevant to the mission of the Academy, it has been removed. [1] Colmjordan (talk) 01:03, 23 May 2010 (UTC)colmjordan[reply]
