[edit]hmm, is it supposed to be Kim Bu-sik, with a hyphen? Appleby 23:33, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
The current title of the page is "Kim Bu-sik," the lede starts with "Kim Busik" (no hyphen), and the infobox gives two Romanizations: "Gim Busik" (RR) and "Kim Pusik" (MR). That's four different forms, and the title matches neither the lede nor the two most common Romanizations.
The convention on Romanization of Korean names says we should keep the more common "Kim" instead of "Gim," but that otherwise we should use the Revised Romanization for pre-1945 Korean names. This means we should move the page to Kim Busik. Would anyone object to that? Cheers, Madalibi (talk) 04:19, 23 February 2013 (UTC)
- WP:NCKO states pre-1945 Korean names should follow McCune-Reischauer. Kim Pu-sik would also be in line with WP:COMMONNAME according to Google NGram, which is expected since MR is the favored romanization in academic literature on Korea. I've created a move request below. Motjustescribe (talk) 02:12, 19 July 2024 (UTC)

[edit]The recent edit removed links to the existing Wikipedia articles and the only external verifiable reference. It also restored a factually wrong statement: Yejong was a king (and a vassal of Liang), not an emperor, and removed all the political background. While information about Kim's role in development of Korean spirituality is interesting, it was not supported by any sources. Finally, large parts of the new/old text need stylistic and grammatical revisions and should be made compliant with the Wikipedia rules about language neutrality. I'll be happy to keep all the additions of Idh0854 provided that can be properly referenced, and will restore my text. Drterno (talk) 09:57, 3 April 2015 (UTC)

Kim Bu-sik → Kim Pu-sik – Per WP:NCKO, McCune–Reischauer romanization should be used for pre-1945 Korean names. Google NGram shows Kim Pu-sik enjoys greater currency, and therefore, supported by WP:COMMONNAME. Motjustescribe (talk) 02:05, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- Support per nomination. Following its creation in April 2006, the main title header of this entry has been moved three times and the proposed name form appears to represent stability. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 04:01, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
