If the transcript differs from what is actually said on the dashcam, you go with the dashcam. What is on the transcript is false. Listen to the dashcam — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.255.237.159 (talk) 02:03, 3 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
This utterance is at an important moment in a very contentious and widely publicized case where somebody was killed. If the utterance clearly differed from the official transcript, you would not have had any trouble producing other reliable sources indicating the transcript was wrong. Out of curiosity I listened to the dashcam recording. It is not clearly different from the transcript, and it is rather muddy. Absent other reliable sources contradicting the transcript, the transcript is what we have. -- M.boli (talk) 03:14, 3 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I've seen the video of this shooting. This Article's narative fails to mention that Castile was actively reaching for the glove box of the car when he was shot, and that his gun was inside the glove box at the time. This is a critical piece of information, and I wonder why the Article fails to include it.---- 72.181.112.54 (talk) 13:15, 10 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sloppy (or crafty?) editing implies that the cop was to blame and that the man who got killed was not at fault at all. The driver did not do what firearms instructors say, which starts with telling the cop, "I am licensed to carry." Instructors also recommend keeping your hands visible at all times, preferably on the steering wheel. They recommend against reaching into a pocket or the glove compartment. Moreover, they suggest letting the cop take the lead, rather than trying to take control of the conversation.
Firearms safety instructors don't teach students to view a traffic stop as an opportunity to assert one's civil or constitutional rights, but rather as a tense situation which should be handled in a standard way to avoid misunderstandings. --Uncle Ed (talk) 19:38, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
