Kilid Bahr

[edit]

In some older texts the village and castle are obviously called Kilid Bahr, and that name is actually also used occasionally on Wikipedia. Maybe there should be a note concerning this, as well as a redirection from Kilid Bahr to Kilitbahir? Also, Kilid Bahr should probably be changed in all instances to Kilitbahir for standardization. However, for those who (like me) are working with older historical texts, it is very much appreciated to have older names or name variants stated in Wikipedia articles. I don't want to make any changes myself, though. It would be better if someone with knowledge in Turkish or knowledge of the region could have a look at this. Name of the article

[edit]

As English Wikipedia article castle too states, the word "castle" is used to indicate a fortified residance of a noble. On the other hand "kale" is a word that is used in a broader sense such as "fortress". Also David Nicolle (Ottoman Fortifications 1300-1710) also uses the word fortress for Kilitbahir. Please move the article without redirect. --Visnelma (talk) 23:40, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
