Region

[edit]

Is Kilis really in the Mediterranean Region, from which it is physically separated? Turkish sources, including the Turkish Wikipedia version of this article, suggest that it is in Southeastern Anatolia Region. The English Wikipedia articles on the two regions suggest the same, as do the articles at Provinces of Turkey and List of regions of Turkey. Skinsmoke (talk) 13:15, 10 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Any info about why it was split from the territory of Gaziantep province given its tiny size with its population mostly living in a single town? Tiptoethrutheminefield (talk) 22:40, 4 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The article on Kilis Town states that the province split from Gaziantep in 1996 not 1994. Given it has a reason for the split concerning an election in 1995, the registration number of the province is after other Provinces created in 1995, I would suggest the 1996 date is more likely but have no evidence either way to confirm it. Anybody got any clarification? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.135.126.97 (talk) 13:02, 23 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
