BIOS
[edit]I'm not sure I buy that Kickstart is like a BIOS - wasn't there an actual BIOS-like thing in ROM that would be needed to boot off of the Kickstart floppies on the Amiga 1000? Luminifer (talk) 16:47, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
- Yes. Kickstart was the whole operating system, minus the GUI (windows/icons) and many times I worked directly from the Kickstart without loading anything else. ---- Theaveng (talk) 12:23, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
There is a newer AmigaOS 4 Kickstart as file, but yet Kickstart. And it includes more core components, like you have mentioned above. Kickstart copyright
[edit]We should write two rows about the current state of copyright.--188.153.52.192 (talk) 12:15, 21 February 2013 (UTC)
Version table thoughts and improvements
[edit]I find some aspects of the version table in need of improvement:
- There is no column for developer. I.e. "Commodore" up to and including Kickstart 3.1 or Hyperion Entertainment for 3.1.4.
- Kickstarts of AmigaOS 4 are not included. Is there any thought behind this?
- Unreleased Kickstart versions <1.0, 1.4, 3.2 are included despite having the "Launch date" column filled in as usual. There should perhaps be a column indicated final state of release, as in Launched / Beta / Development?
- There is no column for minimum platform/CPU support. Especially if AmigaOS 4 is to be included this would help separating those.
Thoughts?
