This information is for the Provincal center, Hovd City...not the distinctive Hovd Soum, which is also called Hovd. It is confusing, but there is a big difference.

Hovd Soum is located about 26km NNW of Hovd City. It is populated almost completely by Kazakhs. There are around 3,000 people in that entire soum.

See here for the location: [1]

Jargalant khot

[edit]

The name Jargalant seems to predate 1992. It can already be found at the 1932 map at http://mongol.tufs.ac.jp/landmaps/ and seems to have been in (official) use quite some time. Yaan (talk) 01:31, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Debtor Anthony Appleyard

[edit]

Anthony Appleyard. Do you have any complaint against the Mongolian people? Do you think somebody in Mongolia is debted to you?? ༄༅།།གང་ཐུ་ཡཱ།། (talk) 10:04, 2 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think the burning of the debt books is important because it marked an end to/an interruption of economic exploitation at the hands of Chinese ursury traders. In other parts of Mongolia, the payment of such debts continued after 1911 (per Charles Bawden, Modern History, IIRC). Yaan (talk) 10:16, 3 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
In that case, the event and its relevance should be explained with sources, and not just stated "they burned books". --Latebird (talk) 14:04, 4 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
