[edit]This game is now marketed as Khet: The Laser Game.
This page should be renamed to reflect this (no pun intended).
The page is incomplete since it does not mention Laser Chess, which Khet is almost certainly based off of. Even if Khet was invented independently, laser chess should be mentioned. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:55C0:CCD0:B11A:CD81:E6C1:928D (talk) 06:41, 26 May 2018 (UTC)
I agree. I'd do it myself, but the "move" button is missing from my quickbar. Not sure why... BassMaster208 04:01, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
Who Goes First?
[edit]In Gameplay, it said that "in both cases, silver always goes first". I'm not sure about Khet, but I have Deflexion and know the game's creator, and I checked the rules and it said that gold always went first. -Geowhiz1010 20:24, 14 2007 (UTC)
Silver goes first in Khet. What I would like to know, is why there are no good pictures of this laser in action. I have searched positively everywhere on the net, and the main pictures I have found have been either 'simulated' or 3D rendered versions of Khet in action, or the static gameboard with the lasers off. It just seems odd to me that there is *no* picture of the actual game laser, isn't that what you would want to show off most of all? Even on the official website Khet.com there is nothing. The *few* pictures that appear to perhaps be of a real laser, are so small or blurry that it's hard to tell whether the laser has been added in afterwards or not. I just want a clear picture, too much to ask? Can somebody who has the game let us know how good/bad the strength of the laser is? I suspect the 3D rendered versions are greatly exagerrated, and that it would effect sales if this were portrayed in the advertising. --220.233.26.218 (talk) 13:30, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
Do you understand how a laser works? You can't see the beam itself unless you place fog or smoke in the path of the beam. You can see where it reflects (in this case, you can see a bright red circle on each surface it hits), but you can't see the laser beam in mid-air. I recommend buying this game, or even just a laser pointer, so you too can discover how lasers work. (128.12.35.104 (talk) 08:28, 7 June 2010 (UTC))
I own the game and of course, you can´t see the path of the laser, only the point where it hits. It´s strong enough for like 10 or 12 reflections... so it´s more than enough to play.
Khet 2.0
[edit]The gameplay for Khet 2.0 is not exactly the same as the original. Apparently you can rotate the laser and there is no more stacking of the obelisks. Instead the equivalent piece is only vulnerable from the left, right or behind. The instructions are up on the Khet website. --Bpeel (talk) 00:07, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, Khet 2.0 isn't very clearly separated by this article, but it's the main product that's being produced & sold. Would it be better as a separate article or as a clearly defined section of the page?

Defunct?
[edit]As of December 2018, neither Khet nor Khet 2.0 seem to be available for purchase as new items -- only as used and "collectable" items, at exorbitant prices. This suggests that the game is no longer being produced, and that the verbs in this article may need to be changed from "is" to "was".
I have heard rumors that the Khet brand has been sold, and that the buyer has re-released the game as "Laser Chess", but have been unable to confirm. Regardless, this article needs to be seriously updated. 70.89.176.249 (talk) 21:10, 18 December 2018 (UTC)
