[edit]This name is given somewhere in the 3 books of Lord of the Rings? Does anyone know where? Fire Star 00:36, 6 August 2005 (UTC)
- His name is given in Unfinished Tales, in the section The Hunt for the Ring. This section was written for the Appendices for LOTR but in the end never made it in, presumably because of the length restrictions. Jordi·✆ 00:53, 6 August 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks, I didn't remember ever seeing it in the LOTR proper (having been reading and rereading the silly books since the early 70s!). I've changed the wording of the article somewhat to reflect that. Fire Star 00:58, 6 August 2005 (UTC)
Source?
[edit]Khamûl was the Wraith who pursued the Hobbits to the Ferry at Buckleberry in the Shire, and who asked Hamfast Gamgee for "Baggins" the day after Frodo Baggins had left Hobbiton.
Is this a movie-ism?Rast 03:31, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
- A Tolkien-ism. Unfinished Tales, section "The Hunt of the Ring". In the HarperCollins edition I have page 445. Jordi·✆ 12:37, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
- But now that I look at it, didn't Khamul ask Hamfast about Baggins before Frodo left Hobbiton? Didn't Frodo in fact overhear that conversation? (Mind you, the Gaffer thought that Frodo had left the day before!)--Steuard 16:50, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
Khamul is stated as being the weakest of the Nazgûl in magic, but that he could regain energy from those he killed in battle.
And this? I think the main article should separate 'game' abilities, and things from the actual book.
Games Workshop version
[edit]Games Workshop are releasing 2 models of Khamul (on foot and horseback) with rules for their licenced battle game.An image of this might be relevant to the article, as it depicts him with an Easterling-style helmet under his hood, and his robes open to show scarlet coloured robes and ornate golden armour beneath. I dont know the rules, but I believe he is more powerful than a 'generic' Ringwraith (but not so much as the Witch-King), which may also be of note.
He can regain will by inflicting wounds. 81.153.39.100 14:24, 4 September 2006 (UTC)Laurellien
