Cultural References

[edit]

I thought it might be worth mentioning that the track "Call Me Anytime", by The Cops, on their "80 In The Shade" EP contains a reference to Key Largo in the first line of the lyrics, although only mentions the title of the movie.

I'm pretty sure they are referring to the actual Key Largo, not the movie title. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.27.77.189 (talk) 07:51, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Inconsistency

[edit]

The article on Key Largo, the actual place, says that all of this movie was filmed on a sound stage, but this article says it was mostly filmed on location. Can someone address this? Timan123 01:02, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

(Years later...) I wondered about the location and went to the Production section. Well, blow me down, the important issue seems to be whether or not Bogart was billed a quarter of an inch below Robinson! C'mon surely one of you film buffs can make this article a little more encyclopedic. My guess is that over 95% of the footage was shot in a studio, with only a few outdoor scenes shot at a location, which was not necessarily in Florida. While you're at it, please prune the melodramatic plot down to the MoS specification of 400-700 words. (It's about 1100 at present.) Bjenks (talk) 06:20, 19 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Done I cut down the plot summary, from a bloated 1098 words to more reasonable 587. Also cleared up the question of location vs studio, although there's a little ambiguity about which sound stage(s) were used for the interior shots (for example, see http://www.thestudiotour.com/warnerbros/stage16.php and http://www.thestudiotour.com/warnerbros/stage22.php). — Molly-in-md (talk) 21:03, 9 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Fog and kelp

[edit]

IIRC, the kelp was just a ruse used by Bogart's character. Not sure about the fog, but the National Weather Service page for Key West, 1998 (the result of a quick Google search) does list 89 days with fog reducing visibility to less than 6 miles, and 5 days reducing it to less than 1/4 mile. I don't think the thick fog necessarily indicates ignorance so much as cheap special effects. I'm removing this trivia item until someone can source it. --Chronodm 10:23, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
