Quadruple-double

[edit]

CBS Sports wrote "After averaging nearly a quadruple double with 27.9 points, 12.7 rebounds, seven assists and eight blocks in high school ..."CBSSports.com However, 108.234.185.147 remove mention of the news quadrule-double with their own original research of "7 not that close to 10 8 not that close to 10 and double-double nowhere near close to quadruple-double". However, USA Today also wrote "The 6-9 forward and McDonald’s All-American nearly averaged a quadruple double with 27.9 points, 12.7 rebounds, seven assists and eight blocks per game."[1]. National sports radio host Jim Rome even references Looney being a quadruple-double threat in high school. refer to audio at 3:20 mark Given the sources, mention of quadruple double seems justified.—Bagumba (talk) 11:26, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Bagumba: This is a misrepresentation of facts. Seven in one category and eight in another category is not close to ten in both. - Bossanoven (talk) 22:39, 27 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I guess it's subjective what "nearly" means, but it's clear some reliable source have expressed it. IMO, It's fairly common in NBA commentary to call 7 or 8 "close" to a triple double, or in this case quadruple double e.g. there'd be talk in a game of LeBron nearly getting a triple double if he had like 25 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists. At any rate, given the concern, I'd propose to follow WP:ATTRIBUTEPOV and just say some thing like "CBS Sports called it 'nearly a quadruple double'", to preface that it might not be a general opinion.—Bagumba (talk) 01:57, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that sounds reasonable. - Bossanoven (talk) 03:31, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
