Brandon Dobson- Sociology of Sport- Week 2 Assignment Questions
[edit]Week 2 Questions for Sociology of Sport- Human Kinetics- University of Windsor
1.Is each fact referenced with an appropriate, reliable reference? Although most factual information is referenced I did notice that the 2010 Brier results in the Career section in paragraph 3 were not referenced at all.
2.Check a few citations. Do the links work? Is there any close paraphrasing or plagiarism in the article? After carefully checking every link on the article I noticed 2 contradicting article links in the personal section. The first showed a biography saying he was married with 0 children and the 2nd is referenced to say he has 2 children but upon opening the link there was no evidence/information showing that he had children. I do not believe there was close paraphrasing or plagiarism in the article although the previous point could also be used for the answer to question 1 where the reference could be seen as unreliable.
3. Are there viewpoints that are overrepresented, or underrepresented? I do believe information in the first few sentences of paragraph 3, ere not necessarily underrepresented, but were very choppy and poorly written. It seems as if multiple writers took the time to add information and facts but not necessarily blend the information together. I do believe a more effective use of transition words could benefit this article immensely.

Week 2 Assignment Questions - Sociology of Sport
1. Check a few citations. Do the links work? Is there any close paraphrasing or plagiarism in the article? The third reference webpage no longer exists.
2. Is each fact referenced with an appropriate, reliable reference? Majority of the summaries from tournaments that Koe, there were no citations given for where the information was found. Could probably include tournament web pages so the scores and results can be fact checked.
3. Is the article neutral? Are there any claims, or frames, that appear heavily biased toward a particular position? There are times where the article doesn't flow very well. I think there needs to be more transition between Koe's different tournaments he has participated in and some of his accomplishments.Kalbflem (talk) 21:34, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
