There is the serious possibility that his acting career has been ended by this case, but do we know this for sure? PatGallacher (talk) 17:53, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
Description
[edit]I think there should be a discussion over the description used in the opening of his article. It seems to be getting a bit too close to WP:EDITWAR as it's been going back and forth over several days now and a consensus should be reached. I think it should state that he is an actor and convicted sex offender due to the fact that he is currently in jail and Google searches of him will talk about that just as much as his acting. He will likely be known for both going onwards and I think the opening of his article should reflect that. Suonii180 (talk) 12:21, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
- I agree we should get consensus on this. Clearly the article must include the fact that he is a convicted sex offender. At the same time, the article exists because he is an actor, there would be no article if the crime were the only notable information (see WP:CRIME). MOS:OPENPARABIO describes the typical structure of the lead for biographies, and based on the fact that his conviction is in itself not his notable attribute, then the current structure is most appropriate (for clarity - described as an actor, with some relevant roles, then a sentence in the lead about the conviction). This is similar to other cases (Simon Bowes-Lyon, 19th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne, Jonathan Tiffoney, Craig Thomson (footballer, born 1991), Alan Lithgow).
- Another plea - everyone needs to remember this is an encyclopaedic article, not a news item, when editing and including detail in the subsection. It isn't our place to insinuate guilt or innocence, simply to report the provable facts of his conviction and sentence. |→ Spaully ~talk~ 13:27, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
"is" or "was" an actor
[edit]I understand the consensus of registered editors, from above comments and changes made, that as he is still alive and films he appears in that the description is that he "is an actor". Comments here would be helpful to support/oppose this, as there is a slow drip of IP edits to change it. Thanks, |→ Spaully ~talk~ 22:10, 16 February 2022 (UTC)
