Oops, wrong mountains, needs more research
[edit]Kern River Valley is listed as being bounded by the Piute Mountains. Near Kern River Valley and Lake Isabella is a mountain peak called Paiute Peak (spelling not known - Piute, Paiute, Pahute, etc.) that is just west of Jawbone Canyon and is part of the Tehachapi Mountains or southern Sierra Nevada Mountains. Paiute Peak is probably what is being referred to in the article stub. The actual Piute Mountains are located approximately 150 miles to the east over by the Colorado River along the California/Nevada/Arizona borders and are near the New York Mountains.
