poor writing

This article is poorly written, as if by a non-native speaker of English who didn't or couldn't proofread the article before publication. The article needs to a complete re-write. I'm compiling some notes here for whoever may elect to undertake the task.

instances of awkward wording: 1. Bailey studied at the University of Texas at Austin (should be: Bailey attended the University of Texas at Austin) 2. He got there a B.S. in mathematics (should be: He obtained from that institution a B.S. in mathematics) 3. The last four years he got an N.D.E.A. Fellowships. (should be: He received an NDEA fellowship for the last 4 years of his studies.) 4. Summer 1967 he participated in a workshop (should be: During the summer of 1967 he participated in a workshop) 5. Since 1968 he worked at the University of California, Los Angeles, at the department of sociology as assistant professor. (should be: Starting in 1968 he worked at the University of California, Los Angeles, in the Department of Sociology, as an assistant professor.) 6. and since then professor (should be: and afterwards professor) 7. In between he was a scholar and visiting associate professor (should be: Additionally, he was a scholar and visiting associate professor) 8. at the department of sociology (should be: in the Department of Sociology) 9. at the Tulane University (should be: at Tulane University) 10.
