Regarding Kennybunk v Kenn-uh-bunk, Kennybunk is correct. In the '60s this topic got quite a bit of ink in the Kennebunk Star. The blame, at the time, for the increase in mispronunciation was placed on President Kenn-uh-dy's name. coach 21:20, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

i live in kennebunk

I'm a resident to. I tend to do minor edits, but if I have the time in mid-December, I will help out this article. And you are probably right about Kennybunk. The other could just be a mainer tongue tied into it.--Blackmage337 01:35, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I too am a resident of Kennebunk. It is merely local tongue to pronounce it Kennybunk.

Fixed capitalization error and added exact year to the settling year. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kidkidpie2 (talkcontribs) 23:45, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Shipbuilders or Sea Captains? Or Both?

[edit]

My understanding, which I reflected in the article, is that the stately 19th century homes were the homes of shipbuilders. The article had said sea captains. My understanding is that the homes along the town center (rte 35) were primarily ship builders, but could be mistaken. Possibly both groups existed, but I had only come across ship building. This distinguishes Kennebunk from the whaling centers of New Bedford, Edgartown, and Nantucket Massachusetts. It also explains why the homes are along the Kennebunk river instead of near a harbor. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.69.151.127 (talk) 02:17, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Kennebunkport population question

[edit]

I was wondering why the Kennebunkport population was included. I edited this slightly to indicate Kennebunkport is a separate, but adjoining town. I understand the school system is shared, but then wouldn't we need to count Arundel? The water company is also shared, but this time with Wells. Not sure what the right answer is, so I left it in but indicated the towns are separate but often associated. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.69.151.127 (talk) 02:13, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
