[edit]This is very likely a vanity page. but with some merit. Any takers for a major cleanup?
Rinaldo Entry is excellent as is
[edit]I am not at all clear why the Rinaldo article needs cleanup. I am quite familiar with Rinaldo's work - I have interacted with both AUTOPOIESIS and AUGMENTED FISH REALITY. They are brilliant works and super interactive fun.
Rinaldo is one of the leading artist-philosophers in bioart and robotics. Not only does the entry provide excellent descriptions of Rinaldo's work, it also locates his work in both genres and provides links to entries on other leading international artists in these genres. For example, the entry on bioart is accurate and informative; the entry link on robotics is fantastic.
I will be using the Rinaldo entry and the links on my 4th year/Masters seminar - The Politics of Cyberspace next term. I teach Rinaldo's work and that of the bioarts and robotic-artist Stelarc's work. The entry and links are a great source providing both practical information and philosophy.
I am assessing the entry with some experience in both the fields of robotics and bioart as I have a three year Canadian Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) grant to research a book titled FastBodies.
Please don't remove the entry - it is one of the most comprehensive on Wikipedia.
Ken Rinnaldo is one of the finest practitioners of robotic and bioarts internationally and this page remains a valuable handle for those who want to get a sense of what he is doing. Given the tremendous contributions Rinaldo's works and words have made to the discourses of artificial life, robotics, energence, autopoesis, human-machine interfaces, etc, it is imperative that this page not only be retained but systematically developed by cross-linkages and new content updates.
+1
[edit]I had a chance to meet Ken Rinaldo during his exhibition AUGMENTED FISH REALITY in Kaliningrad, Russia, and I found quite strange to see that this article is being considered for deletion.
That entry as well as personal web-site of Ken Rinaldo is a real informational database, full of brilliant well-structured links and exclusive texts, due to robotics, technology and bioart. And it’s quite useful both for professionals and students, who study interdisciplinary sciences.
The problem of the Art and New Technologies still has unreliable status in Russia, but many institutions now starting a huge analytical researches, devoted to nanotechnology, bioart (like a project of the Ural Center for Advanced Studies and Education). Ken Rinaldo both as an outstanding artist and Associate Professor of the The Ohio State University seems to be one of the main experts for these research programs.
I think it will be incredible mistake to remove this article. --Lisisa 06:09, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
Why?!
[edit]I´m surprise with WIKIPEDIA. Why such important quote is being deleted? I really wanna know WHY the Free Encyclopedia is doing something like this. I´m a writer and i have some important articles about Rinaldo´s work published in international magazines. What is happening? rewrite
[edit]i simply did the rewrite. rinaldo's work is too important to present it with warning signs on the page. if you want to make the article on him better, just do it. or roll back if you object my changes. but keep in mind that the article was indeed of poor quality. not even the headlines were formatted correctly.
+ a remark: the complaints on the page were never about rinaldo's relevance or the quality of his work. it was simply that the article was not written according to wikipedia's standards. all of you seem to be in conflict with the neutral point of view requested by wikipedia.
