On the Notability of Ken Booth
[edit]I'm not at all related to this article, but I think it's difficult to question Booth's notability in the field of critical IR theory, and IR theory more generally. Booth is a pioneer of critical security studies, which argue that the state is often a part of the problem in security issues, not the solution as is oft assumed. Therefore, the focus for the researcher should be on the individual, not the state. Lol, if I had more time, I'd flesh out this article myself, but I hope someone does... I have to agree with Nicolasdz here - Ken Booth is one of the founders of the so Welsh School of Critical Security Studies (critical in the sense of the Frankfurt School). His work has is frequently cite ( see http://scholar.google.com/scholar?btnG=Search+Scholar&as_occt=any&as_sauthors=%22ken+booth%22&as_allsubj=all ) I am new to wikipedia, but I will make some edits when I have time. Additions and 'To Do'
[edit]I've added a list of key publications. In order to do this well though, we need to add sections on the following:
1) The ideas contained within his naval strategy/theory
2) His work with ethnocentrism
3) His merging of the Frankfurt School critical theory with security (security as emancipation)
4) His work on the security dilemma with Nick Wheeler
5) Something about his 'magnum opus' that was just published. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vckeating (talk • contribs) 22:44, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
