Kelvin Heights
[edit]The name of the peninsula was changed in 1999, but the suburb is still officially Kelvin Heights, and that name is still used by Queenstown-Lakes District Council, Otago Regional Council, as do the police and the government's statistics bureau. Civil Defence distinguishes between the two, NZ Telecom uses Kelvin Heights in its addresses, local businesses refer to it, as do local travel guides and real estate agents, and local, regional, and national media outlets all use Kelvin Heights as a name for the suburb. Grutness...wha? 15:52, 18 May 2019 (UTC)
At no point was Kelvin Heights made official, the name was made official in 1999 as Kelvin Peninsula with Kelvin Heights being a locally used name for a section of the suburb, if entities refer to it as heights then I believe they are wrong, thats how I read it. The book our place in the sun about the area backs up this point of view. The nz post map seems to show it in the area near the golf course but doesn't show what the status of houses near the Hilton is... QLDC do yes. Police do. Civil Defense refer to it as Kelvin Peninsula and Heights. The real estate article you refer to doesn't state that it is a suburb, but real estate agents always call it Heights. I suggest it is as simple as the official name is not used properly and the unofficial name is commonly used in it's place....?
But more then welcome to discuss it. --Grapeman4 (talk) 09:27, 1 June 2019 (UTC)
[1] states that Kelvin Heights is not an offical name should Wikipedia not respect that? User_talk:Grutness
