CollegeHumor

[edit]

Unless it can be proven that Keggy was featured on the front page or won some sort of award or something, the mention of it being on CollegeHumor should absolutely be removed. Anyone can put a photo of anything on CollegeHumor, so noting that a photo of Keggy appeared on the site does not confirm any sort of added notability or importance. -- Kicking222 16:12, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It was featured on the main page, and it is noted on the site. See the orange "* NATIONAL PICK" in the upper right-hand corner? According to the CollegeHumor FAQ, "If the item makes the main site, it will be have a “National Pick” emblem next to it." Kane5187 18:43, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. Thanks for the clarification. Perhaps this info should be placed with the appropriate footnote. -- Kicking222 15:21, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Better yet, I'll stick it right into the article, because probably more people than just you will wonder why being on CollegeHumor is important at all. Good idea. Kane5187 06:24, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Failed GA

[edit]

Sorry but it's a fail

  • Lead is too short, should be one ore two paragraphs, not one sentence
  • Multiple references in the middle of a sentence, should be after a comma or full-stop
  • References have different lay-outs, please keep it constant and check {{cite web}}
  • One sentence/short paragraphs, merge remove or expand
  • A blog shouldn't be under external links
  • Make the reference list smaller putting in <div class="references-small"></div>

The article overall is rather short, it needs expansion, I'm also not sure this is a article worthy of GA unless these suggestions are met. If you do want to re-nominate after the issues are addressed i suggest a Peer review, Goodluck with whatever you do. M3tal H3ad 09:54, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In response to your question, the image is still too large and do references 20 and 18 need all that text? you have a link to it so it isn't needed. The whole article needs to be expanded a bit and the lead is looking a lot better but needs another paragraph. M3tal H3ad 01:53, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
WP:Lead says one two paragraphs. There are certain lengths required for an article to pass GA, check Netflix under GA:review a few hours after being promoted for having a short lead, although the article is bigger then this You can go for GA if you want, if you do i suggest a Wikipedia:Peer review also (while waiting for GA) so changes and such can be made. M3tal H3ad 07:47, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Adding on to that, is there any wa more content could be applied to this? At first glance it looks very short, even though it's certainly well-written. Wizardman 14:27, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I know, it is very short. I've scoured all the articles mentioning Keggy in The Dartmouth; and other than the non-Dartmouth media sources cited, I don't think there's much content. I'd love to include info on what the keg is actually made of, who runs around in it, how it connects to the history of Dartmouth, etc., but it's just that this info simply doesn't exist in a reliable, citable format. (The annoying thing is that I personally know all the answers to those questions!) Kane5187 19:45, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use not applicable for image

[edit]

The image of Keggy is a fair use image. However, please see one of the requirements of the template: it is believed that the use of this work in the article "Keggy the Keg" [..] Where no free equivalent is available or could be created that would adequately give the same information

I do not see how it matters that it has previously been used for publicity purposes.

Hmm. I don't know who uploaded the old photo, but I've replaced it with a new one (that I took). Kane5187 15:12, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That was a really nice image!
Now you would need an image caption. I suggest something simple like "Keggy posing on Dartmouth College campus", or whatever he is doing :-)

I think it is OK

[edit]

I personally think it is OK for GA now. It's not perfect, but I see no major flaws. Maybe M3tal head or someone else disagrees, so I'll just hold off passing it for a while...

Fred-Chess 14:09, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

M3tal head's only remaining, unaddressed objection was the length of the intro. Thanks for expanding it. S/he seemed rather intent on making it two paragraphs, but I really don't think stretching it out that long is feasible or worthwhile. Kane5187 17:47, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
My only concern is the size of the image, which is too big and the blog under external links. M3tal H3ad 04:08, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Fred Chess removed the blog, and I thumb-sized the image. Kane5187 14:48, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have reviewed this article as a part of the GA Sweeps process. Congratulations. The article still meets the criteria and will remain a GA. Nikki311 21:15, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
