120-page paper?
[edit]The article used to say that "professor Steven Hofmann solved the problem in a 120 page paper in 2000." This seems to be a rough version; the only papers I could find are much shorter, so I removed this sentence. Furthermore, the papers all have co-authors. It may be that Hofmann did the bulk of the work, but I did not see evidence for this. -- Jitse Niesen (talk) 12:15, 28 December 2005 (UTC)
- This article [1] states that it is a 120-word paper. --Spiffy sperry 20:28, 28 December 2005 (UTC)
What year?
[edit]According to this http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/news/archive/2005/12/27/national/a012245S28.DTL the paper was written in 2000.
- This is the AP article that was written for some reason unknown to me (perhaps the university sent out a press release?). It is quite possible that the paper was written in 2000 and published in 2001. I think that usually, the time of publication is quoted. Furthermore, I'm not really comfortable relying on the AP for mathematics. -- Jitse Niesen (talk) 20:46, 28 December 2005 (UTC)
