Notability

[edit]

I have reverted a redirect to The Ting Tings on the grounds that she is notable under the notability criteria that "A person is presumed to be notable if he or she has been the subject of published secondary source material which is reliable, intellectually independent, and independent of the subject. I have cited several examples but there are countless others, including TV and radio programmes over half an hour in length, newspaper articles about her etc. Please don't just revert it back again without giving it proper consideration Thruxton (talk) 20:49, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Katie White's Birthday

[edit]

I can provide the information that Katie White's born on January 18, 1983. However, I only have one method of citing this, which, due to Ms. White's privacy, I do not wish to release. Can this information be added to the page anyway? If any editors would like to see the source, they can contact me privately, but I do not wish for the information to be related to the general public. Matt Gibbs (talk) 01:56, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think per WP:BLP, unless her full date of birth is in the public domain, it should not be added to the article. Policy on that page states this:
"Caution should be exercised with less notable people. With identity theft on the rise, people increasingly regard their dates of birth as private. When in doubt about the notability of the subject, or if the subject complains about the publication of his or her date of birth, err on the side of caution and simply list the year of birth."

The information is from a public source, however it is a source most would have difficultly finding without knowing Katie on a personal level. However, for her privacy, it might be best to keep that information off Wikipedia until she releases the information through her management. Thank you, JGXenite. Birth name

[edit]

I have changed the first name of birth to Katie, citing her ASCAP database entry. The name Katherine has never been sourced. If anybody with a subscription fancies looking up the registration of her birth, that would be the best source to rely on. Labalius (talk) 20:53, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nationality

[edit]

We've got into a series of sudden reversions on this article and some associated ones about the Ting Tings' nationality. Essentially, it appears that they're UK citizens and would therefore normally be described as 'British' in an international forum like Wikipedia (much like one would describe Texans as 'American' in media outside the US). As another editor has apparently had unspecified concerns, I've changed this to the clunky-but-neutral 'UK-based' for now. If anyone else wants to get into debate about this, this is the place... Publicity?

[edit]

Personal life?

E.g. long-term partnership with (marriage to?) band mate? Child? (They have one, which they refer to as "Mini-Ting Ting")

Or just a string of cv-type achievements to create just another publicity article instead of a real encyclopaedia-type article? 86.185.46.237 (talk) 08:28, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
