Pronunciation

[edit]

There's no way I can cite this but I know Dr. Stecke personally.

Much of this article is not cited so I don't see why this was removed for lack of citation, unless you have some evidence that it is incorrect. Human-potato hybrid (talk) 22:00, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If it's not cited it should not be in the article. See our policy on biographies of living people. And in general, unless the pronunciation is non-obvious, it should also not be in the lead; see our guidelines on when to include pronunciations in leads. As far as I can see, all of the body of the article is cited, and the lead only summarizes material in the body; if you think something is not cited, please let me know what it is. —David Eppstein (talk) 22:14, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
To me the pronunciation is non-obvious. No way to find a source for it though. Human-potato hybrid (talk) 18:37, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've seen some people put up personal web pages saying something like "People often mispronounce my name. It should be..." If Stecke herself put up such a page, we could use it per WP:BLPSPS. So if you know her, and think this is likely to be an important issue to her, you could suggest that. (People often mispronounce my name but I don't particularly care; I can recognize it anyway.) —David Eppstein (talk) 19:55, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
