It is proposed to merge Sobor#Church building into this article; the former is the Slavonic word for "Katholikon" and the section whose merger is proposed cites this as "Main article".

- Support - With the possible merger of Sobor with Synod, Sobor church building does not hold its own. Further more I suggest that both be merged with Cathedral as Sobor and Katholikon seem variants on Cathedral as some dioceses/eparchies do have more than one cathedral like the Diocese of Piana degli Abanesi and the Latin [Patriarchal See of Jerusalem]. - While I certainly appreciate your support, I’d hold off the merge of cathedral for another discussion; for starters, I’d argue, a katholikon nearly never has a cathedra and a katholikon that is not a cathedral is not (with the rare exceptions you note) a co-cathedral but rather is either a conventual church (its original and primary meaning) or some other distinguished church. Perhaps there should be an article on co-cathedral. Vincent J. Lipsio (talk) 00:28, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
- This having been posted for more than a month, and seeing no objections, I'll proceed with the merger at my soonest convenience, noting the above proposed merger with cathedral, unless some objection occurs before then.
