This page should not be deleted as it describes the pitfalls of teaching overseas if a teacher comes into conflict with a student from an influential family. Unlawful detention of overseas workers is a violation of human rights and articles like this which illustrate the dangers serve to benefit humanity at large. Further, this article is a helpful reminder to American ex-pats that they should not depend on their embassy to assist them when they are being unlawfully detained.

In order to prevent its likely deletion, this page will require a substantial rewrite to conform to our standards on neutrality, given the use of language like the above in the article, and to replace the odd google search with real, verifiable sources (such and asthese). Its great she got out, but now it seems like an old minor news story and should probably be deleted, based on WP:NOT#NEWS. She is known only for this one incident. Someone could renominate in a month or so, to see if anything develops out of it. While looking for addition sources for the article during the AFD, I found several other articles about abuse of teachers in the country, but the others were not about angry and influential parents getting even with teachers. They were about 30-something year old Egyptian female teachers confined to crummy barracks with a strict 10 pm curfew and no visitors, like they were students in a 1950's girls school. Many female teachers are hired from Arabic speaking countries and have complained about their treatment. This could perhaps be merged into an article about the educational system in the country, or allegations of abuse of non-Kuwaiti workers, in order to have an article with an encyclopedic subject. Slight news coverage of one rough period in one person's life just does not seem to go beyond a filler news story. Edison17:08, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It does seem like it would make more sense to discuss this and other topics in the context of Human rights in Kuwait, just from a practical perspective and to give perspective. This article's short enough that we could trim it down by just a sentence or three and fit it there, and use that as a basis from which to expand coverage of specific incidents where the rights of foreigners were infringed upon by the Kuwaiti government, while hopefully maintaining a worldwide perspective and covering their status vis a vis south asian and pacific workers.
