While I treasure free speech and beautiful women, there is also a necessity known as respect. I suggest you exhibit some.--CoolGuy 05:51, 29 July 2005 (UTC)

Waht are you talking about GarageBay9

The timing on that Maxim image makes no sense. she wasn't playing a doctor in 2004. Polymathematics 03:58, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

What's the point of the virginity bit? How is this relevant, and how do we even know it? --70.228.175.196 02:23, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Can someone address the slight bias in favor of Ms. Heigl over the Judd Appatow controversy? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.89.223.95 (talk) 08:34, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Why is there no picture?

Well? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.156.65.123 (talk) 16:36, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Because noone has taken a free picture of her yet and WP:FAIR USE isn't allowed for living people. - Dammit 16:41, 3 December 2007 (UTC) I gotta take that back, Wikimedia Commons had a free picture of her so I added it to the article. - Dammit 16:44, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Mormon?

I've removed the "Mormon actors" category until someone can provide citation. Does Heigl currently self-identify as Mormon? Being from a Momron family is not enough. -Porlob 19:04, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

A simple google search came up with about 11,700 hits for "Katherine Heigl Mormon." However, to make it official you can find it at her web site [1]. Not that it matters in the long run, but shows little effort on your part to ensure your edits are accurate. Please ask for citation instead of making assumptions because you've never heard it. That is what assuming good faith and the citation tags are about. Happy editing -Visorstuff 01:06, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
It lists her now as "former Mormon." Is she former or just lapsed? Or is there a difference? I don't know Mormonism very well. I do know she's good with T. R. Knight being gay and apparently swears pretty easily, but is it something where she just flat out says "nahh I'm not Mormon anymore."--T. Anthony 06:32, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
The change was made w/ no citation. I am going to change it back until there is an actual citation for her leaving Mormonism. The current incarnation of the category is "Latter Day Saint entertainers". --TrustTruth 16:55, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Well, I can't find any verification that she still identifies herself as LDS, but I can't find any evidence to the contrary either (her website isn't clear on it). There are really only two possibilities:
  1. She isn't LDS anymore (or at least practicing)
  2. She is LDS, but doesn't want to blab about it over fear that it will hurt her popularity.
She certainly isn't shy about talking about her LDS upbringing. And in at least one interview (in Reader's Digest), she says it was great. But she never comes out and says whether she is still LDS or not. — Frecklefσσt | Talk 14:11, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
Uh, this Vanity Fair press release (linked in the Apatow article here, btw) lays it out pretty clearly: http://www.vanityfair.com/services/presscenter/pressrelease/katherine_heigl200801.
Based on this, it would probably be accurate to say that she is an (apparently) inactive member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.162.220.10 (talk) 20:33, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Jason Heigl

I don't understand why a citation is needed for him... there have been numerous different interviews with Katherine and articles about her everywhere mentioning that he died in a car accident 20 years ago, and IMHO its not necessary. Her older siblings, perhaps because they were not publicized widely, but definitely not for Jason. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.167.175.39 (talk) 00:59, 21 December, 2006 (UTC)

If that's the case, I'm sure you'll have no problem finding some citation :) Yurimxpxman 15:44, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
I found one and added it. NickBurns 21:26, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

27 Dresses

I found an article at http://www.tv.com/story/9124.html?q=anatomy&tag=search_results;additional_links;0 saying that she will star in Anne Flether's upcoming movie, 27 Dresses. Any confirmation?

Filmography

I say we split the filmography section into 'TV' and 'Movies'. This has been commonly done for other actors/actresses. Any takers?

Pronunciation of surname

Could someone add a pronouncer for her surname? I'd thought it was Hi-gell but, per the article, that's incorrect. RahadyanS 15:04, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

I'll add one. All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 06:02, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

The article says that Hi-gell is incorrect, but it also states that the correct pronunciation is /ˈhaɪɡəl/. How do these two statements add up? Obviously, /haɪ/ means "hi" ("high"), so it must be the "gell" that is incorrect. What exactly is incorrect about it? Are people pronouncing the "e" as an e instead of a schwa (surely not, since there's no vowel between the g and the l in the written form)? Or is "gell" meant to be read as having a soft g? 06:47, 16 June 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.168.112.220 (talk)

It is a Bavarian surname I think. It is more like "Hi-gel", with one "l". And the "g" is pronounced like in "good", not in "gel". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.94.186.41 (talk) 09:44, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Yes! Hi-gell is incorrect. It's german. The first part "Hei" it's more like a hi in english. The second part "gl" it's like the the ending pronunciation from google "...gle" So it would be like Hi-gle GastonSenac (talk) 04:56, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

WikiProject class rating

This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as start, and the rating on other projects was brought up to start class. BetacommandBot 15:46, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

High school graduation

The article currently claims that she left high school in her sophomore years and that it is unknown whether she graduated. One paragraph later it says After her high school graduation in 1997. When doing some Web research, both 1996 and 1997 come up as graduation years. Does anyone know a source?--134.130.4.46 (talk) 19:54, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Still inconsistent two years later. Enoent (talk) 01:34, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

Is the Emmy thing mentioned it? Should it be?

Meaning this.--T. Anthony (talk) 18:39, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

I believe it should be included in the article. Flask (talk) 09:06, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Controversy

I think there should be a controversy heading in the main page. She has opened her mouth and talked crap about her own productions twice now, and it is barely mentioned. I can't think of another actor saying, "The movie I just stared in was very sexist" or, "i think my writers suck so much I don't even want to be nominated for an Emmy." That's some pretty crazy words coming from one of the stars of these productions. Does no one else agree? Chexmix53 (talk) 17:40, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

I don't know if it's crazy. Or maybe I should say there's two sides of it. One that she's being temperamental and "crazy", the other hails her for being honest and assertive. She really wasn't the only one to think the writing on Grey's has declined a bit or that they kind of ruined her character. (I think they did, she was much more understandable/likeable in the first two seasons) And on the movie she just said it could be seen as sexist. That being said I think she's been a bit too opinionated at times. She even indicates you need to know when not to talk and at times I'm not sure she does. Anyway to get back on target if you did a "controversies" section you'd need it to be balanced. Also I'm not sure "controversies" sections are always a good idea.--T. Anthony (talk) 18:28, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

I think that the Feminism article is pretty one sided, in that it applauds Heigl for condemning the people who helped her to stardom, then completely ignores the fact that she went on to star in some fairly patently sexist films like The Ugly Truth. It also ignores the reactions from Seth Rogen, which point this out. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 116.255.44.173 (talk) 00:47, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

intro section?

There's a tag here asking for more information on the intro paragraph. Honestly, I don't know what, exactly, is wanted here. I think this is a plain straight forward cliff's notes on Katherine Heigel that you get from 20 seconds of reading. Name, DOB, nationality, profession, a couple of well-known projects...DONE. So what else are we supposed to be adding??--ocrasaroon (talk) 06:22, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

Descendant

She was in a movie called "Descendant", according to IMDB, but it's not listed in the filmography. I saw the movie on TV today, recognized her, and then came to wikipedia to verify it was her. IMDB says it is, but Wikipedia doesn't say anything about it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.150.202.201 (talk) 03:58, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

Criticism

There is a scathing article on Heigl's fall from grace in Newsweek this week. Not including mention of the significant criticism in the Wikipedia article does us a real disservice. //Blaxthos ( t / c ) 19:01, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

Parents religion

If his father is from german ancestors and her mother from irish, I think he is the lutheran and her mother the catolic. GastonSenac (talk) 04:42, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

I see Katherine Heigl converted to Islam on the newspaper and magazine. --Gtabigfan2010 (talk) 17:46, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

I added a mention of the charity she founded and the external link. Also a news link mentioning the work of the charity. http://www.jasonheiglfoundation.org/images/latimes12102009.html Aliciaa1988 (talk) 17:56, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
