Future status of Beckett/Castle in infobox
[edit]There seems to be a campaign the last couple days to add some variation on the statement that Richard Castle is Beckett's future boyfriend, future husband and even the father of her children, and at the same time, labeling her current boyfriend Josh as her "soon to be ex-" boyfriend. I treated this as a simple misunderstanding regarding policy at first, but there seems to be a larger effort to force this content in, and there have been (fewer) similar edits on the article for Richard Castle as well. I have warned as many of the editors (all first time IP or registered editors) as I can identify, but they've started up again this morning. Given there are no circumstances under which this content can be included (we don't know that's going to happen, and that fails WP:CRYSTAL), alongside the number of editors adding this content, this has now risen to the level of disruptive editing and/or vandalism. I invite any of the editors involved, each of whom has also been contacted on his/her respective talk page, to discuss here, and if they have a reliable source indicating the events they are attempting to add to the article will happen, to include it in the article. Otherwise, this has to stop. Drmargi (talk) 14:44, 12 March 2011 (UTC)
- In the last episode, which aired tonight, (SPOILER!!!!!!) Castle told Beckett he loves her after she is shot by an assassin. 207.216.197.154 (talk) 04:17, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
Beckett's Mother's Death
[edit]After reading this, I'm even more confused at why her mother (and the 3 other people) were killed. It is so convoluted and ends up having to do with dirty cops, mobsters and politicians. Can anyone offer a summary? 69.125.134.86 (talk) 23:33, 9 January 2013 (UTC)
Alternate universe
[edit]Should there be a section for "The Time of Our Lives"'s Captain Kate Beckett?Little kingsfan2005 (talk) 04:10, 17 November 2014 (UTC)
This is what was on the Alternate universe tab for a few hours until it was taken down:
- In Season 7 episode "Time of Our Lives", Castle is launched into an alternate universe where he and Beckett never met. In this world, Kate is the commander of the 12th Precinct, and is the youngest woman in NYPD history to make Captain. However, the job isn't all that it's cracked up to be - lots of compromise and politics. She frequently dates, but none of them really go anywhere. She has yet to solve the murder of her mother. She remains a fan of Richard Castle's work, and she accepts an invitation to go for drinks with him in order to find out why he killed off Derrick Storm.
- When Castle is abducted, Captain Beckett finds him by either coincidence or fate and saves his life by killing his kidnappers. Castle quickly returns the favor when another gunman appears by taking the bullet to the chest, which returns him to his own reality.Little kingsfan2005 (talk) 04:49, 17 November 2014 (UTC)
- It's too specific to a single episode. Character articles should provide an overview of the character and include real-world discussion, which many articles fail to do. Providing detail that is relevant to the character throughout the series, or even a reasonable part of it, is fine, but content that deals only with one part of a single episode is something that should remain in the appropriate article that deals with that episode. --AussieLegend (✉) 07:25, 17 November 2014 (UTC)
- Well, could something like this be posted at the bottom of the character biography section in italics? Maybe even if it was trimmed down to a single sentence or two to highlight the differences between the two Becketts?Little kingsfan2005 (talk) 18:22, 17 November 2014 (UTC)
- Italics are used for emphasis and there is no reason to emphasise this. It's giving undue weight to minor information that is only relevant to a single episode. --AussieLegend (✉) 04:52, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry, I often see alternate universe information in italics to separate it from the regular universe information. The point I was trying to make was that the section (even if it's just a sentence or two) does highlight the differences between the two Becketts.Little kingsfan2005 (talk) 05:13, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
Awards and decorations
[edit]In "Knockout", we saw the awards and decorations received by Det. Beckett. Should there be a place for them on the page?Little kingsfan2005 (talk) 04:11, 17 November 2014 (UTC)
This is what was on the Awards and decorations tab for a few hours until it was taken down:
- The following are the medals and service awards fictionally worn by Detective Beckett, as seen in "Knockout".
NYPD Unit Citation | |
NYPD Medal of Honor |
Little kingsfan2005 (talk) 04:52, 17 November 2014 (UTC)
- At best it's in-universe trivia in this, and other articles on fictional characters. They're purely decorative and don't aid to our understanding of the character. --AussieLegend (✉) 07:13, 17 November 2014 (UTC)
- I know other Wikipedia articles display the ribbon racks of fictional characters, particularly those in the military. Since the images are on the NYPD's medals page and I have both the time and inclination to add them to the pages...or should I simply list them at the bottom of the section about her career without pictures?Little kingsfan2005 (talk) 18:25, 17 November 2014 (UTC)
- Such content may be relevant in some character articles but more often than not it isn't. That something exists in any article is not a reason to include it in another. Here it's not necessary at all. --AussieLegend (✉) 04:57, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
