The History isn't quite right

[edit]

The intro gives the impression that she started putting her comics online in May 2008, which is incorrect. That's probably when her current website harkavagrant.com went up, but she'd been posting to katebeaton.com for a long time before that.

I don't have an acceptable source yet but there's solid evidence here, where Ryan North of Dinosaur Comics links to her old site in Nov 2007. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Qwerty0 (talkcontribs) 07:30, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Further note for myself and others: found this blurb on Metafilter from 2008 that helps with the history (with links too) --Qwerty0 (talk) 22:01, 24 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hiatus?

[edit]

I was just wondering how long one might typically leave a statement like 'Beaton publishes her webcomic, Hark! A Vagrant, occasionally' before changing it to past tense? I realised today that there hasn't been a comic posted on this since since December of 2016, so 18 and a half months ago. Do we always wait until the artist declares something to be on hiatus? 46.233.112.72 (talk) 22:07, 28 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Cancon

[edit]

It would be worth adding a line pointing out that Beaton's work contains a conspicuous strain of commentary on uniquely Canadian subjects that are generally unfamiliar to Americans. (Or anyone else who's not Canadian.) This is rare enough in prominent Canadian artists who are well-known outside of Canada that I'd suggest it passes the notability test here.
