Alvin, Texas?
[edit]Is there even a Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum in Alvin, Texas? The article formerly said:
- Karpeles Manuscript Library in Alvin, Texas is located in the old First Methodist Church building at 800 West Sidnor St., about a 30-minute drive from Houston. As of December, 2012, its opening date had not been announced.
while their website (http://www.rain.org/~karpeles/alvfrm.html; "rain.org" appears to be a website hosting service) gives an address and shows a picture, but then says
- Museum Opening early 2015. Hours of Operation: Tuesday-Friday 11:00 am - 4:00 pm.
Well early 2015 is behind us now, and the phone number given is out of service. This latter, especially, makes me doubt that this is a live operation, and so I have removed the Alvin, Texas entry from the list. Herostratus (talk) 19:27, 27 September 2016 (UTC)

Non profit
[edit]Is this museum a non profit irs status 71.32.49.228 (talk) 17:27, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
- I do not know if this applies to all Karpeles Manuscript Library Museums, but at least the one in Florida has tax-exempt status.

Splitting proposal
[edit]I propose that the sections Library locations and Former locations be split into List of Karpeles Manuscript Library Museums since that's basically what they are. - Relinus (talk) 14:52, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
- Weak support. Such a list would definitely be useful, though I am concerned that if it is *just* a list, it might not meet Wikipedia guidelines for a standalone article. How much information do we have on all the museums, so we can ensure that we don't leave any of them as "starving stubs"? --Elonka 18:31, 14 August 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose I share the concerns of Elonka on it no longer meeting Wikipedia guidelines as a standalone article. I think it's best we wait until more information is added to the subsections. After this, there will be enough content to split. O.maximov (talk) 10:50, 23 July 2024 (UTC)
