Broader implications -- Breakdown of trust between Bush and Arafat

[edit]

I think that this incident played a significant role in the final break-down of whatever small lingering remnant of confidence and trust George W. Bush still had in Arafat -- I seem to remember rumors that Bush took strong personal offense to what he felt was Arafat's direct personal lying to him over Karine A. This set the stage for Bush tacitly aquiescing in Israel's West Bank offensive of April 2002, and Bush's major mideast speech of June 24th 2002 (which was anti-Arafat, and in large measure removed American pressure on Israel to make any concessions until and unless the Palestinians first cracked down against terrorism). Rename article

[edit]

In media coverage, this incident was rarely mentioned by its Israeli military operation name, "Noah's Ark." I propose that the article be renamed the "Karine A Affair," with "Operation Noah's Ark" redirecting to this page.ShamWow (talk) 19:07, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Background -- Abbas?

[edit]

There is this line in the Background section: "Tonga has confirmed that Abbas was still the owner of the ship." I believe "Abbas" is a typo for "Adel"; there is no mention of an Abbas anywhere else, and when I looked at the BBC News article being referenced (source #7) there is no mention of Abbas -- only Adel (Mughrabi). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.113.151.63 (talk) 22:33, 30 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Is this Mohammed Abbas? The current president of the Palestinian Authority? Can someone please find out? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 100.38.230.65 (talk) 23:03, 11 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request

[edit]

In the See also section, could the last item in the list (Gaza flotilla raid) be indented to align with the previous two items? And remove the bullet from before the "Similar weapons..." line?

That is, change...

   * Similar weapons seizures from vessels en route:
   ** Operation "Four Species" (Francop affair)
   ** Victoria affair
   * Gaza flotilla raid

...to...

   Similar weapons seizures from vessels en route:

Not, I will admit, the most important task in the world but mis-aligned things bug me! Many thanks! 31.125.139.185 (talk) 13:20, 3 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
