Full name

[edit]

I made it "Karel De Gucht" again instead of "Karel Lodewijk Georgette Emmerence De Gucht" because I couldn't find a non-wiki source mentioning this ‘expanded' name. While 'vandalism' might have, in hindsight, been too harsh a judgement, I'd like to request such a source is provided if it's added again in the future, just to make sure that is indeed his real name... This is a list of candidates for the European elections from 2004, containing Mr De Gucht's full name. Mr De Gucht's name is the second name on the list, right below Prime Minister Verhofstadt's.

Indeed, thank you. :) Random Nonsense 09:56, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

«Freemasonry»?

[edit]

I'm removing the phrase "prominent member of the Freemasonry" as a non-verifiable assertion about a living person, see Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. The only «reliable» sources about membership in the Belgian Freemasonry are the Secretariats of the Belgian Grand Lodges and Grand Orients, and except in extremely rare cases (such as a Grandmaster being officially received qua Grandmaster by the King), they don't disclose to non-Freemasons whether some living person belongs to their Order or not. Even if Mr. De Gucht's official CV mentioned it (which it doesn't), it would not necessarily be "a reliable source", since there are people who falsely spread the rumour that they are Freemasons. -- Tonymec 09:42, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Gigantic picture

Why is the picture so enormous? john k (talk) 15:53, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Structure

[edit]

I think this article can use some improved structural elements. At this moment, it's just an enumerative description of all his accomplishments etc. Certainly the sentence "He is a Freemason" should be brought into context.--Keffertje08 (talk) 13:10, 6 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Responses to criticism"

[edit]

"Karel De Gucht responded to criticism in a Guardian article in December 2013, saying "The commission has regularly consulted a broad range of civil society organisations in writing and in person, and our most recent meeting had 350 participants from trade unions, NGOs and business".[75][76]"

Ah, yeah? Tell us more, Karel. -- ZweiterSternVonLinks (talk) 00:19, 21 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
