Criticism section

[edit]

That criticism section that the mob here keeps wanting reinserted is going to need much better sourcing. As it's been written so far it's a WP:COATRACK and doesn't belong in this encyclopedia. It's been removed for all the right reasons. Toddst1 (talk) 23:34, 11 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There's an active BLPN thread on this. I put together a little source analysis there. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 23:57, 11 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. For the record, the discussion is currently Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons/Noticeboard#Kara_Cooney. Toddst1 (talk) 23:59, 11 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

She is no longer Assistant Professor but Professor and Chair of the Department of Near Eastern Languages & Cultures. See https://nelc.ucla.edu/person/kara-cooney/

Website. www.karacooney.com is a dead end. Her website is www.karacooneyegyptologist.com

Photo. There are photos on her website that would be a more appropriate choice than the one featured in the article.

I'll update her link and job title. For how to make photos available, see Help:Adding image. Please note that it is only allowable to use photos that are freely licensed for all uses (not just for Wikipedia), with explicit permission of the copyright holder (usually the photographer). It's easiest to handle if the person who uploads the photos is the photographer, so that the permission can be added directly, rather than by jumping through email hoops. If you aren't the photographer and don't know who the photographer is, then probably the photos are not usable. —David Eppstein (talk) 00:02, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like while I was answering this, User:JayBeeEll handled the updates. Thanks, JBL! —David Eppstein (talk) 00:04, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome, David Eppstein -- we must have had an edit conflict, because your comment here ate mine. --JBL (talk) 00:30, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oops, sorry. The system didn't tell me it happened and I didn't think to look at the history. —David Eppstein (talk) 00:40, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No harm done! (Also your answer about the photos was much more constructive than mine.) --JBL (talk) 01:13, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
