Meaning of the name
[edit]Kapeenkoski most likely doesn't mean "narrow rapids". First of all, there's the genitive suffix -n, so it would basically be equivalent to "narrow's rapids".
Place names have also mostly been standardized in Finland, so it should be Kapeakoski if it meant narrow rapids. Besides, the local dialectal pronunciation of kapea in the area is kapea or occasionally kappee, not kapee.
Instead it probably refers to the word "kave", a type of mythical creature (genitive: kapeen). Kapulakone (talk) 06:56, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
