Importance is asserted. Fong's practice pioneered the field of vidding which is now quite relevant and broad. This is stated in the article.
She also had an important relationship to the marketing process for the first Star Trek film, which is detailed in the article.
Fong's work is important to analyze in the context of 1960's video art which has been analyzed in terms of "appropriation". I have not linked to works by the artist Dara Bernbaum (for example), because doing so could not be considered objective, but Fong should be considered important in this context.
