Suggestion

[edit]

I would like to suggest that this page be deleted and the heading "Kanadehon Chūshingura" be redirected to the "Chūshingura" entry. With respect to the author, there is a far more detailed and accurate synopsis on that page which makes this page somewhat redundant. --Szombathely (talk) 00:39, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

An alternate editing suggestion might be worth considering:

This article about the bunraku play needs to expand and emphasize the differences which distinguish this version of the story from the others.

IMO, the modest effort invested in establishing the unique qualities of this bunraku version will also address a number of questions which may arise if anyone joins Szombathely in proposing a merger. --Tenmei (talk) 19:04, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I believe I am correct in saying that the generic title for all the plays based on this true story, covered under the "Chūshingura" article, all come from the play "Kanadehon Chūshingura" which was first written for the puppets and then adapted shortly after for Kabuki. For most of the play's eleven acts the two versions are nearly identical (Acts 2 and 5 differ most). As all the plays, TV dramas, etc. are based on the true story, it would make most sense to rename the "Chūshingura" entry, "Kanadehon Chūshingura" because "Chūshingura" on its own is only a conveniently shorter title of "Kanadehon Chūshingura". "Chūshingura" on its own is not a separate play. --82.35.18.190 (talk) 14:47, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
