The following is a questionable claim: "The economics of Swahili publishing would normally make a satisfying new Swahili dictionary unlikely." ... counterexamples exist that disprove this claim: http://africanlanguages.com/swahili/ (Online) http://africanlanguages.com/swahili/dictionary/ (Electronic / Commercial) Also one wonders why this project is so important it has its own Wikipedia page? There are many free online dictionaries that don't apparently merit that status. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 196.210.162.9 (talkcontribs) 22:02, 10 March 2010

Thats a good point. It may be worth deleting. But I think it is more than a dictionary, its a whole group to promote Swahili.--Metallurgist (talk) 20:35, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have been contacted to grant copyright permission for this page to include information directly from the Kamusi Project website. The site is clearly marked on all pages as cc-by-nc-sa, so Wikipedia is welcome to harvest any materials within the terms of that license. Although I would personally prefer to see original reporting about the project (lots could be said, as perhaps the first cooperative online dictionary, and certainly the first for Africa, established 6 years before Wikipedia's first breath, and with a bevy of activities for African languages underway that move far beyond the original Internet Living Swahili Dictionary), please feel the liberty to copy away.
