Maiko/Geiko List

[edit]

There is currently no precedent to have or maintain a complete list of the active maiko/geiko in a particular district, not even the wikipedia page in Japanese. They only go as far as to list some of the more common geisha lines of descent, like Ume-, Katsu-, Nao- Ichi-, etc. Since the information is hard enough to verify, let alone update constantly, I am editing it to reflect such limits (re: Wikipedia:Verifiability - Sources in languages other than English). Revision Concerns

[edit]

1. The photograph on the main page is the intellectual property of a Flickr user lovelyhoneybee, Spring 2007 165, from Nara, Japan. Originally posted here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lovelyhoneybee/531447609/ Please see Wikipedia:Image_use_policy

2. Verifiability and neutral point of view is an issue. To date, Ichimame is currently the only maiko from Kamishichiken with a verified blog. Please refrain from vague, unsourced statements such as '"To say that you have just come from a northern ozashiki hold a little status!"' Also, Lulu Press is a self-publisher. Self-published books and blogs are largely not acceptable as sources. See Wikipedia:Spam and Wikipedia:Verifiability#Self-published_and_questionable_sources_in_articles_about_themselves

3. A link to Fujika's blog might belong in Gion. Can you site why she is a "renegade"? Claw789 10:31, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
