recently she recived the award for Social justic and action.The awards are given to individuals from different segments for their input to encourage social justice and action for her contribution;whatever little she is doing for society.we must appreciate it.

Apart from being goodwill ambassador and supporter of the Britain-based Loomba Trust - a charity devoted to educating widows' children, particularly in India, Kajol also works with an nongovernmental organization (NGO) called ‘Shiksha.’Cherie Blair, wife of former Prime Minister Tony Blair, is President of the Loomba Trust.

Kajol affirmed, “I believe that Social commitment is as important as our professional and personal commitment. It is indeed an honour to have been selected for this award. I will keep doing my bit & giving back to society the best in my capacity.”

Fan comments on the page about the purported KHAN movie were removed

There is no definitive announcement over this movie and the supposed comments made about why Kajol decided to do this movie and so on were unsourced and pure hearsay in nature.

Pyaar Tho Hona Hi Tha over Karan Arjun

Check your sources once again, you'll find Pyaar Tho Hona Hi Tha was one of the major hits in Kajol's career and most certainly a bigger success than Karan Arjun financially (box office).

Yes, that was my mistake, I checked it at IBOS as well. But I found something else, her fifth biggest movie is not Baazigar, it's Ishq. Source - http://www.ibosnetwork.com/clsActorDisplay.asp?actor=Kajol&layout=filmography. So that change will be made.

Scripts

I replaced the various scripts with IPA and ITRANS, as a result of a discussion at the village pump and Indian Cinema Project. Essentially, the consensus seems to be that allowing the different scripts can lead to confusion, especially for multi-ethnic persons. So instead, the best option is to use IPA (for pronounciation), and ITRANS (for spelling in all Indic scripts). The ethnicity of the actress is mentioned elsewhere, and so it isn't necessary to reiterate it. Gamesmaster G-9 23:26, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

Wrong Spelling!

ITRANS transliteration

As you can see both from Devanagari and Bengali, the "a" in Kajol is long. Therefore it should be either "kaajol" or "kAjol" in ITRANS.

I disagree. It is possibly right what you're saying here, but Kajol's name is spelled as simply Kajol in ALL of her films, and she hasn't ever raised some concerns, nor will we do that. Regards, --Shahid • Talk2me 22:44, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

It depends on the purpose of transliteration. If the name is written just for normal English/American readers, long vowels are not marked, dental and retroflex consonants are not distinguished and final "v" after long "a" is transliterated as "o" (e.g. राव = Rao) because it is close to its pronunciation. Also the first letter is capitalized. However, if you type "kajol" into ITRANS or in Velthuis transliteration (in Velthuis Devanagari for TeX), you will get कजोल in Devanagari or কজল in Bengali which is not correct.

  • Devgan and Devgn -- both these spellings have been used. Please ensure consistency.
  • "Kajol was born in Mumbai to a film-oriented family...". That hyphenated word "film-oriented" is weird and ambiguous. Replace it with another word or explanatory phrase.
  • "He died in the year 2008...". Here, "in the year" not needed. "He died in 2008" is sufficient.
  • "Simran Singh, a young NRI from London...". NRI needs to be in full (expanded) form.
  • "She explained that playing Isha Diwan was the..." That the name of the psychopath killer was Isha Diwan needs to be mentioned in the preceding sentence.
  • "termed her as a "glamorous prob" and described ...". Glamorous "prob"? You mean problem?--Dwaipayan (talk) 04:43, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
I meant 'prop'. That was a typing mistake.
  • "Kajol won her fifth Best Actress award at the Filmfare for the film, thereby sharing the record with her aunt, Nutan". Although the lead mentions this record, reader might have forgot by now about the record. So, state what is the record (highest number of Filmfare Best Actress awards).
  • "In 2008, Kajol featured as a talent judge, alongside Ajay Devgn and Tanuja..." Probably mentioning, once again, her relationship with the other judges will be good here.
  • "Tabloids have often romantically linked Devgn with other Bollywood actresses, and have reported about an imminent divorce..." Ok. Were there any similar rumour/gossip about Kajol? With SRK? Just wondering.
Haha, SRK and Kajol have never been linked together.
