Why is this page being challenged

In researching Kayseri, I found that the name has changed and been spelled various different ways in the past few thousand years. I thought that adding redirects from less-current spellings to the current article would be appropriate. Is it not? If there's a guideline about how much of that is appropriate, please let me know.
